Obituary of Thomas H. Doepker

Doepker, Thomas H. of Saginaw and Freeland
Passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Grove of Northbrook Living and Rehab Center in Northbrook, Illinois. He was 77 years old. Thomas H. Doepker was born on January 12, 1938 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to the late Cornelius "Neil" F. and Katherine E. (Roberts) Doepker. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, Tom began working; something he enjoyed and was dedicated to throughout his life. He built several homes on his own, had been employed by Consumer's Power and Grocery Baking Company (Oven Fresh Bread) to name a few. He was the proud former owner of both Tony's Restaurant on Center in Saginaw and Tony's Restaurant on Gratiot in Shields. Tom loved to travel, especially to Mexico and the Caribbean. Shortly after retirement, Tom relocated to the Chicago area near his daughter, Denice, and grandchildren. He will forever be remember for his hard working nature, but more importantly, for his generosity to family, friends and employees.
Surviving are two daughters and a son: Beth Ann (Doepker) Rappuhn and her fiancé, Randy Bostwick of Saginaw, Douglas Doepker and his partner, Cindi Ball of Saginaw, and Denice (Doepker) Taylor and her husband, Kurt of Woodstock, IL; seven grandchildren: Amanda Rappuhn, Megan Doepker, Jennifer Doepker, Travis Doepker, Benjamin Taylor, Zachary Taylor, and Leah Taylor; four great-grandchildren; one sister and three brothers: JoAnne Schafer of Saginaw, Robert (Kathleen) Depker of Saginaw, Joe (Kathrine) Doepker of Kalamazoo, and Bill (Pat) Doepker of Saginaw; two former spouses: Darlene (Russ) Glick, and Barbara (Al ) Damalak; and a sister-in-law, Janet Doepker.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Doepker; and a sister Maureen Quillet.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. Dominic Parish, St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Alzheimer's Association in support of vascular dementia research. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State).
