Obituary of Jean Catherine Kumbier

Kumbier, Jean B. of Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at HealthSource of Saginaw. She was 90 years old. Jean Catherine Bremer was born on March 21, 1925 in Saginaw to the late George H. and Margaret A. (Fitting) Bremer She was a proud graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation she began working for Morley Brothers in the business office. She married the love of her life, Howard H. Kumbier on November 1, 1947, upon his return from World War II. Together they celebrated 58 wonderful years of marriage. Howard preceded her in death on January 3, 2005. She would later work for Remer Plumbing for over two decades, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the former Germania Country Club. Jean was an avid golfer, loved traveling and also enjoyed bowling in her younger years. Above all she loved and cherished her family and friends. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Patricia Bremmer of Estero, Florida; and nephews and nieces: David (Sharon) Remer of Saginaw, Robert (Janet) Remer of Saginaw and Donna Remer and her husband, Dennis Summerfield of Freeland, and Julie (the late, Roderick) Remer of Hemlock. She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Bremmer; one brother-in-law, Robert Remer; and one sister-in-law, Helene Remer. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor Susan Hand will officiate. Entombment will follow at Oakwood Mausoleum. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
