Obituary of Margaret Mary Niederstadt

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Mary Niederstadt passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehab Center. She was 92 years old. Margaret Mary Troy was born on June 22, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Joseph and Rose (Dunn) Troy. She married Alec C. Niederstadt on November 11, 1943 in Denver, Colorado. They returned to Saginaw where they raised their two children, Nancy and Joe. Margaret was a charismatic woman her entire life, a real go-getter. She loved people and made many friends while working at Michigan Bell, Wiechmann's Department Store and Standard Federal Bank, from where she retired. She was a devout and faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Margaret was an avid golfer and had the fine luck of scoring a hole in one, not just once, but twice during her lifetime. She loved to run, to go bowling, to cross country ski and was a big fan of tennis. She loved to read mystery novels and would never turn down an opportunity to experience the hustle and bustle that a trip to the casino might bring. There was always a twinkle in Margaret's eye. She got a kick out of so many things that life has to offer and shared that exuberance with others, especially her grandchildren, with whom she had a wonderful and loving relationship. Margaret always had a natural ability to connect with people and could strike up a conversation with strangers from all walks of life. She captivated many with her vivacious spirit and will be remembered as a caring woman, full of energy, compassion and laughter, dedicated to sharing with others the incredible joy she felt for life. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Thomas Sanderson) Niederstadt-Sanderson; son, Joseph (Terri) Niederstadt; grandchildren: Ryan (Frances Martin) Sanderson, Erin (Ben) Johnson, Jared (Katie) Sanderson, Scott (Brooke) Niederstadt, Stacey (Scott) Suther; seven great grandchildren: Elijah and Gabriel Johnson, Jonah Sanderson, Amelia and Alec Niederstadt, Malayna and Cylas Suther; sisters-in-law: Sally (Donal) Hammond and Shirley Niederstadt; a very special niece, Dr. Cristine Goldberg, nephew, Wally (Margo Link); cousin, Donna (Ed) McKinley. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Alec Niederstadt; her sister, Dorothy (Walter) Link; and her brother, Robert Troy. The family would like to especially thank Margaret's physicians, Dr. Michael Butman, Dr. Shiraz Shariff, Dr. Muhammad Khan and the staff at Saginaw Senior Care for their excellent and compassionate care. A funeral service will be held for Margaret at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Cremation will follow the funeral service with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date.
