Obituary of Henry P. Decker

Decker, Henry "Hank" P. of Omer, Michigan formerly of Saginaw and Bay City Passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Horizon Assisted Living. He was 86 years old. Henry Phillip Decker was born on October 11, 1929 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Jacob and Mary (O'Connor) Decker. He married Ann Marie Clancy on July 11, 1950 in Staten Island, New York; she preceded him in death on April 2, 1998. Hank proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, he began working at Bay City Chevrolet, retiring in 1980 as a general foreman. Following his retirement, Hank was the owner and operator of a lunch wagon in Northern Michigan for over 20 years; it truly was his passion He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are a daughter and two sons: Deborah Decker of Boston, MA, Henry Decker, Jr. of Omer, and Christopher (Julie) Decker of Saginaw; three grandchildren: Nathan (Jennifer) Decker, Andrea Decker, and Erica Decker; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond (Penney) Decker of Rhode Island; and two sisters-in-law: Kathleen Decker and Florine Decker. Henry was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Rose Decker; two sisters: Dorothy Goldynia and Catherine Stevenson; and two brothers: Robert Decker and John Decker. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Army and American Legion Post #439. Honoring Henry's wishes cremation will follow and burial will take place at a later date. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Monday from 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to any Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
