Obituary of Shirley Ann Leibinger

Leibinger, Shirley Ann of Saginaw Township, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, December 08, 2015 at Henry Ford Hospital with her family by her side. She was 81 years old. Shirley Ann Stelter was born on May 12, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Bernard and Julia (Bless) Stelter. She married the love of her life, James J. Leibinger, Sr. on August 8, 1953 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2010.
She enjoyed shopping, and her hobbies included designing floral arrangements and playing Bingo. Shirley was also creative and enjoyed decorating, as well as spending time and caring for her flowers. She was a longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and a member of the Red Hat Society. Shirley also played the tambourine for the Kitchen Band. Shirley was an avid sports fan of the Red Wings, Tigers and Michigan State Spartans. Above all, she loved and cherished her family.
Surviving are one daughter and one son: Cindi (Rick Ferguson) Whitmer of Florida; a son, James J. (Renee) Leibinger, Jr. of Farmington Hills; one son-in-law David Smith; two grandchildren: Ryan and Hannah Leibinger; three brothers and a sister: Ron (Mary) Stelter, Bernie (Joni) Stelter, Bill Stelter, and Debbie (Jeff) Stelter Davis; and a brother-in-law, Frank (Pat) Leibinger.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Smith; a son-in-law, Buster Whitmer; and a sister-in-law, Maureen Shea Stelter; a nephew, Joseph Leibinger.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State Street. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Andrew Mausoleum.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We will celebrate Shirley's life during her favorite season, Christmas. A Vigil Service led by Sue Smith will take place at 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Shirley will lie in state at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
