Obituary of Doris F. Stevens

Doris Fawn Stevens, age 86, passed away on Thursday, December 3rd, 2015. She was a longtime resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She was born on March 22, 1929 in Saginaw to the late Horace and Nina (Zwack) Warner. Doris was married to Jack A. Stevens on December 31, 1948 in Saginaw, together they celebrated 66 years of marriage. Throughout the years, they enjoyed working and traveling together. Jack preceded her in death on October 3rd, 2015. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, Saginaw. Doris loved to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing golf and Euchre. Doris' grandchildren held her heartstrings and for them she loved to create many treasures. Her daily adventures included a trip to the store, antiquing or spending time with those that she loved dearly. She is survived by children; John (Kathy) Stevens, Sue (Tom) Krueger, Kim (Carolyn) Stevens and Jeff (Kimberly) Stevens; grandchildren: Tara (Greg) Gaume, Brent (Jennifer) Stevens, Tammi (Jim) Bakos, Scott and Ryan Krueger, Amy and Keith Stevens, Jackson, Sara and Emily Stevens; great grandchildren: Jakob, Kathryn, Nicholas, Makenzie, Samuel, Drew, Taylor and Grant. Doris was the oldest of five children, and she is survived by her siblings: Judy (Jerry) Kocks, Larry (Stephanie) Warner and Tom Warner. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sister, Beverly (Robert) Stevens. SERVICE: A memorial service celebrating Doris and Jack's life together will be held on their 67th wedding anniversary at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1209 Hancock St., Saginaw, followed by a coffee and dessert reception. The family will greet guests between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. at the church. According to Doris's wishes, their cremated remains will be interred together at Great Lakes National Cemetery, at a later date. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Zion Lutheran Church, or to a charity of your choice.
