Obituary of Jack A. Stevens

Stevens, Jack A. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 88 years old. Jack A. Stevens was born October 31, 1926 in Saginaw, MI to the late Elbert and Lottie (Johnston) Stevens. He married Doris F. Warner on December 31, 1948 in Saginaw, she survives him. Jack proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the owner and operator of G&W Surgical Supply and also was a pharmaceutical representative for over 40 years. Jack was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was an avid outdoorsmen and proud founder of StevensKrue Hunt Club. Most important to Jack was his family and spending time with them. Jack is survived by his wife, Doris; children: John (Kathy) Stevens, Sue (Tom) Krueger, Kim (Carolyn) Stevens, Jeff (Kim) Stevens; grandchildren: Tara (Greg) Gaume, Brent (Jennifer) Stevens, Tammi (Jim) Bakos, Scott and Ryan Krueger, Amy and Keith Stevens, Jackson, Sara and Emily Stevens; great grandchildren: Jakob, Kathryn, Nicholas, Makenzie, Samuel, Drew, Taylor and Grant. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Jack will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1209 Hancock St., Saginaw. Pastor Sue Hand will officiate. Military honors will follow the service at the church under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #1859 and the U.S. Navy. According to Jack's wishes cremation will follow the funeral service and he will be interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Jack will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Zion Lutheran Church.
