Audre Borrello (nee Wilson) passed away peacefully October 2, 2015. The daughter of the late Dr. Earl C. and Laura Wilson, Audre was born in Mount Pleasant, MI, on July 16, 1935, and spent her childhood in Harrison, Michigan. She attended Leota Girls School in Evansville, Wisconsin, where she exceled in piano, a pursuit she would pass on to each of her children. There she became an accomplished equestrian rider, and she continued working with horses well into her senior years. Following graduation from Leota, Audre attended Albion College where she met her future husband, the late Honorable Leopold P. Borrello, to whom she was married for 57 years. Audre graduated from Albion in 1957 with a degree in English and Secondary Education. She taught English in the Walled Lake School District before moving to Saginaw in 1959. Audre then dedicated her life to raising her three children, the Honorable Stephen (Nancy Bondar) Borrello, Murray (Dianne) Borrello and Andre (Jamie) Borrello. For more than three decades, she and her husband owned Barrister Irish Wolfhounds which for several years was the top Irish Wolfhound kennel in the country. While showing and breeding Irish Wolfhounds, she and Leo traveled the country on the weekends, developing close friendships with other dog enthusiasts. Audre was dedicated to the care and humane treatment of animals. In addition to her dogs, she had many beloved cats. She was also a prolific professional knitter and crocheter and owned Audre's Yarn Shop, located in Block's Plaza in Saginaw Township. Audre taught knitting and crocheting at her store and produced beautiful sweaters, afghans and wall hangings. She was also an accomplished cook and baker. Her breads and desserts were famous among friends and family. During her life, she was active in the Saginaw Valley Kennel Club, the American Kennel Club, Calvary and St. John's Episcopal churches and various other civic organizations. Audre was preceded in death earlier this year by her husband, the Honorable Leopold P. Borrello, and her father and mother Dr. Earl C. and Laura Wilson. Besides her children she is survived by her loving brother, Malcolm Wilson (Shirley); her sister, Diana (George) Clapp; her cherished grandchildren: Ariana and Aleksandr Borrello, Brianna, Elsa and Wilson Borrello, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
