Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, September 30, 2015 at HealthSource Saginaw. She was 96 years old. Ruth Alma Gohsman was born on September 1, 1919 in Vassar, MI to the late Louis and Charlotte (Ranke) Gohsman. She attended Vassar Schools graduating with the Class of 1938. Ruth married Elmer Alfred Dietzel, Sr. on May 10, 1942 in Vassar, MI. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1987. Ruth was a very caring, giving, generous and lovable person. She loved her family and also liked helping others. She was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church. Ruth retired from St. Luke Hospital after 16 years of service and then continued to help others by volunteering at HealthSource until she was 85 years old. She loved to play cards and bingo. She especially enjoyed Euchre and was involved in several Euchre clubs. Ruth also loved to watch the Lawrence Welk show along with her two favorite game shows, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Elmer (Cindy) Dietzel of Elkton, Dorthy (Gary) Hakes of Saginaw, Linda (Dan) Florey of Saginaw, Edwin (Cindy) Dietzel of St. Charles; thirteen grandchildren: Michael Dietzel, Scott Proffer, Jeff Dietzel, Holly Troutman, Todd Dietzel, Heather Silver, Dan Florey, Crisanta Vogan, Melissa Guster, Jamie McKinney, Lindsey Fugett, Angela Fugett and Jessica Izzo; eighteen great-grandchildren, plus one to be born soon, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Marvin Gohsman and his wife, Doris; brothers-in-law, Clifford (Skip) Carpenter and George McMahon. The family wishes to express many thanks to the nursing, medical, activities, and kitchen staff and food servers at HealthSource and to Heartland Hospice for being so kind and loving to Ruth. They called her "Grandma Dietzel" or "Ms. Ruthie" and words cannot express how much her family appreciates all of you and how much you mean to them.
