Obituary of William Grierson

Fireman Bill passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2015 at St. Mary's of Michigan surrounded by his family. He was 63 years old. William was born on October 26, 1951 to the late Alexander W. and Shirley J. (Monk) Grierson. He worked at Grey Iron Foundry and as a paramedic for Mercy Ambulance. His true passion was serving the Saginaw Community as a Firefighter for 28 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1996. Following his retirement he continued his service by teaching CPR and First Responder Classes. During his free time, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and sharing his talents of woodworking and crafts making treasures for them to keep. He also enjoyed riding with the Freedom Riders. Bill was the President and member of the Carrollton/Zilwaukee Eagles Aerie #4413, and he was also a member of the Royal Order of the Moose Lodge #82. Bill and Margarita Barajas had been together for 19 years and he then married the love of his life, Margarita, on May 30, 2009; she survives him.
Bill is survived by his wife, Margarita; children: Jessica (Jeffrey) Kruszka, Mary Grierson, Austin (Shayla) Grierson, Venus Ceja and Crystal (Joe) Amaro; grandchildren: Taylor, Gabby, Jesusita, Emiliana, Celeste, Sophia, Elizabeth, Julian, Ariana, Alex, Isobel and Vincent; great grandchildren: Tessa, Angie Jo, Brooklyn, Trenton, Javier and Gabriel; sisters: Karen Cox, Carol (Frank) Jenei and Diane (Jim) Storey; brothers-in-law: Jose D. (Susan) Barajas, Manny Barajas, Jesse (Dina) Barajas and Arthur Barajas; sister-in-law, Gloria (Clarence Gutman) Barajas; his "kid fix": Dahlia and Evander Faler; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, one aunt, uncles, extended family, and Rae Grierson the mother of his children. Bill is also survived by his special friends: Dean and Kay Smith, Bob Schultz, Terry Smith, Little Cliff, O.B., Larry Bronze, Kathy and Mike Greene, and his yellow lab, Marley. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Angela Grierson; and grandsons: Logan Grierson and Tylor Ceja.
Fireman Bill's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Mary' 7th floor - TICU Crew, especially Tony and Molly for their excellent care.
FUNERAL: A funeral service for Fireman Bill will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 1:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). The Saginaw Fire Department will honor Bill at 8:15 p.m. The family will have a prayer service following those honors at 8:30 p.m. Bill will lie in state at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to give a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society or the Amazing Grace Pet Rescue.
