Hi Theresa & Family,
I was sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Yesterday I checked the online Ironwood Daily Globe and checked the obituary section and saw your Dad's there. About 3 hours later, Myra Rudy stopped by our house to let me know that she and her husband Keith had attended the funeral and met you. Small world, your Dad and Keith were classmates back in high school. Your Dad and Keith are a couple of nice guys from that generation, that is for sure. He sure sounds like he lived a great life and now he is in a great place. Take care.
Sincerely,
Brian Kolesar

Hello My friends and family,
Between Friday Night and Saturday Morning My Father (Harry) transitioned from his earthly body to His true spiritual self.
Please join me in Celebrating his life!
I am serious... My Father has gone to a much happier place now... no more pain... and with those whom he loves so much... I know Mom and others were there to welcome Dad with open arms, love and understanding.
I ask you all... not to send or think of anything sorrowful... I cannot see anything sad in this!
All I can feel is love and gratitude... the celebrating of a very powerful life!
THIS IS A TRUE CELEBRATION... A Celebration of Life!
Honestly I do not want sympathy or condolences... as I know the soul of Dad has not died... only his body!
I am happy for him and pray for him to find all that he needs and wishes in the spirit realm...
A couple quick memories about My Dad...
My father helped in establishing the search and rescue team for Northern Michigan... and was always ready to go out on a search, be it at 3am or in the middle of the Middle of the Porcupine Mountain Forrest... Countless lives have been saved... although the Bears are a bit more hungry now...
I was always so impressed with my dad when he was a teacher... he would work with students labeled as slow... build their self confidence by not giving dry boring assignments out of a book but to go to the library and get them immerse in something they always wanted to know about.
We would talk of the great joy his students would share of their growing minds and expanding horizons.
These young people who knew nothing of the world were now researching things like Nasa and Astronauts... but not just the topic that they picked but all the information related to that topic so they could understand the whole process...
He (my dad) opened minds and created curiosity... a curiosity that began to expand on its own... becoming a love of learning a love of experiencing things far beyond the lives they previously knew.
My dad was a brilliant soul... math and architecture were favorites of his...
But omg when it came to mechanics... he would always have to call me... As we lived on a farm... he would go to use the tractor but often times he could not get it started... not until he reached the point of blowing the thing up, would he would call me... and of course it would start right away... Oh he hated that!
I have to admit I had to work really hard at not laughing... not at him but the situation... This brilliant man trying everything in the book finally has to call his teenage son who pushes the button one time and it starts... I don't know, maybe it's the energy... hehe
Some of my fondest memories were our canoe trips... I sure did love those times together... we had great fun... From Boy Scouts to a trip into the Boundary Canoe Area which... includes remote lakes and rivers from the Northern Minnesota border into Canada...
The air was so clean that You could see and watch a Satellite gently move across the sky every 10 minutes, and stars by the billions!
Everything so clean and pure... how beautiful that was!
We had and boarded horses on our farm... My sisters became really interested in raising and training horses for pleasure, show and competition... With the devotion and help of Mom and Dad My sisters became very good horsewomen.
And even when I screwed up... even if he was truly angered... he kept a cool head!
Thanks for that Dad!
He truly lived a great life and helped a great many people expand their lives as well!
Dear Father!
My Love and Blessings to You!
Kevin

So sorry to hear about Harry's passing. He was one of the most creative teachers in the Washington School. He was a great inspiration to my daughter's writing. Michelle had him for two years and one of the best things I remember was how her ability to write creatively greatly grew. Bless him and all teachers that inspire our children to think for themselves.

Harry was one of a kind! He will be missed by all of the "kids" that spent so much time at his home! (or should I say in his barn)
Love to you all

Only happy thoughts when I think of Harry. He loved the students, and he showed it every day at school. I was fortunate to get to know Harry at the Washington School. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Harry. My sympathy to the entire Dowd family. Barbara Malmberg

I am so sad to read of Harry's passing. Both Harry and Shirley were such dear people, and we had many good times with them at horse events. Harry's smile and the twinkle in his eyes will be fondly remembered. Hugs to all of the family.
