Obituary of Richard Zissler

ZISSLER, Richard W. "Perch" of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 77 years old. Richard Wallace Zissler was born on January 26, 1938 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Sanford C. and Estella N. (Barst) Zissler. He married Susan M. VanElsacker on July 9, 1994; she survives him. After graduation, he would join the United States Army during 1961-1963. After his honorable discharge, he would then work for General Motors as a Coordinator, retiring after 32 years of service. He enjoyed camping, the casino, fishing, yard-work, football, and scratch-offs. Surviving are his wife 21 years, Sue; three daughters and two sons and their families: Angel Kuebler and Stephanie and Samantha, Amy (David) Dubey and Cory and Jacob, Ryan (Heather) Zissler and Jessica, Marissa, Vanessa, and Brandon, Gerald (Kathy) Zissler and children, and Kimberly (Michael) Ickes, and Katelyn, Matthew, Trevor, and Nicole; four brothers and one sister: Gary Zissler, Robert Zissler, Gerald (Nancy) Zissler, Hank (Rosie) Zissler, and Gail (Les) Appold; and many other family members and friends. FUNERAL: Funeral Services will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Military Honors will take place under the auspices of the VFW Post 1859 and the United States Army. Cremation will follow. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 12, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
