Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Klein, Michael Paul Sr.
Saginaw Twp., Michigan
Michael Paul Klein, Sr. was born in Detroit Michigan on November 10, 1944 to the late Arnold (Mike) Klein and Ruth M (Callender) Klein and passed away at home on July 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He fought the good fight!
Mike was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School class of '62 and attended University of Michigan. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1967. He was an Independent Insurance agent for over 45 years and owned the Phoenix Insurance Agency. He was most recently associated with the Meadowbrook Insurance Group. It is a testament to Mike that many of his good friends from over the years started out as business clients.
Married to Mary (Kretschmer) in 1967 and together they raised three children: Michael Paul (Terri) and their children, Miles, Beau and Nash of Sarasota, FL; Christopher Thomas (Sose) and their children, Isabella, Marina and Noah, of Portage, MI; and Rebecca Hayden Gowan (Dean) and their children, Keara and Brody, of Glenview, IL.
One could say that Mike Klein was a character. Opinionated (please don't vote for Hillary!), outspoken, sometimes even a little bit grumpy…but if you were his friend, count yourself among the lucky ones. He was tender and loving and was known to dote on his family, grandkids, and close friends. He was a devoted and supportive husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and brother. He most loved summers at his beloved Point Lookout, getting sun time on the deck, and spending quality time with his family and close friends.
Mike was an avid fan of the Lions (the bums!), Tigers and Red Wings, and he loved University of Michigan football (despite his son-in-law's attempts to sway him to the Green side). He had a sharp wit and a contagious laugh. He truly was one-of-a-kind.
Mike leaves his siblings, Carol Masone, Bruce (Margaret Jean) Klein, William C. (Xenny) Johnson, Jr, Susan (Ken Lambert) Benaway, Lewis (Maureen) Klein, Katherine Klein and Patrick Johnson. He was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather, William C. Johnson; and his stepmother, Sally Klein.
