PACKARD, Robert E. "Bob" of Saginaw passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2015, after a brave battle with cancer. He was 87 years old. Robert Edward Packard was born on October 13, 1927 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Albert and Hazel (Allore) Packard. He married Doris McCulloch on September 4, 1954 at St. Joseph Catholic Church; soon after their 57th wedding anniversary, she preceded him in death on September 14, 2011. Bob graduated from St. Joseph High School. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army; he was a Korean War Combat Vet. He remained proud of serving his country and was a member of the American Legion. Later, Bob worked as a foreman at Grey Iron Metal Casting for 36 years until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. In their spare time, he and his wife, Doris loved to golf and bowl with their friends. Left to cherish his memory is one son, Timothy J. Packard; one daughter, Mary Ann Packard; three grandchildren: Cody, Trevor, and Isabel; three sisters: Jane Trayner, Pat Metevia, and Frances Colleen Passariello; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert (Bud) Packard. FUNERAL: Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Fr. Jack Johnson will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the Michigan Army National Guard. Burial will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., as well as on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
