Patterson, Robert E. of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper, with his family by his side. He was 90 years old. Robert E. Patterson was born on January 14, 1925 in St. Charles, MI to the late Thomas and Ione (Broaddus) Patterson. Bob proudly served his country with the US Army from 1943-1946. During that time he was crossing the English Channel on the Empire Javelin, when the ship was torpedoed on December 28, 1944. He thanked God that he survived. Returning home he spent the remainder of his life caring for his family and serving God. Bob worked for Standard Oil for 10 years, where he met the love of his life, Norma Jean Tillock. They married on October 24, 1953 in the home they built together on Wake Street. In this home they created many wonderful memories and raised their family. Bob spent the remainder of his working career at Jacobson's for 30 years as the controller, affectionately known as "Mr. P.", retiring in January of 1989. Bob was a charter member of Countryside Presbyterian Church and then faithful member and volunteer of Countryside Trinity Church. Surviving are his beloved wife of 61 and a half years, Norma Jean Patterson; their daughter, Lori and her husband Edward J. Halase; and his name sake and loved grandson, Robert T. Halase; aunt, Shirley Broaddus; niece, Barbara and her husband Ronald Bullotta; a great nephew, two great nieces and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Alan Patterson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Frieda Tillock; and a dear aunt, Mary Patterson. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Countryside Trinity Church, 4690 Weiss Street. Rev. Kenneth R. Parker will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Military honors under the auspices of the US Army. VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit at the church on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Countryside Trinity Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State).
