Obituary of Marvin P. Janson

Janson, Marvin of Freeland, Michigan passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Brittany Manor Living and Rehab Center with his family by his side. He was 88 years old. Marvin P. Janson was born on March 30, 1927 in Reese, Michigan to the late Peter and Florence (Rupp) Janson.
He married Barbara Birnbaum on February 7, 1952; she survives him. Marvin was a longtime farmer in Reese and later in life worked at Valley Asphalt. Marvin always held a close bond to his hometown of Reese. He was an avid sports fan. Marvin loved the water, and enjoyed living on Sanford Lake for many years. He also enjoyed listening to Christian music and liked to Polka. Above all, Jesus and his family were the center of his life. Marvin was a faithful member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Freeland and a charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Gladwin.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Barbara Janson of Freeland; two daughters: Terri Janson of New Lothrop and Annette (Tony) Janowiak of Clarkston; two sons: Paul Janson of Grand Haven and Todd (April) Janson of Spring Lake; six grandchildren: Rachel (Derek) Raddatz, Stephen (Katie) Janowiak, Laura Janson, Carlos (Shannon) Janson, Kristin Janson and Alexx; and five great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 545 7th St. Freeland, Michigan. Rev. Robert Schmidt will officiate. Burial will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday, April 27, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Marvin will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, MidMichigan Home Care and Hospice and Christ the King Lutheran Church in Gladwin.
