Obituary of Margaret J. Campbell

Campbell, Margaret "Maggie" J. of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at her home. She was 80 years old. Margaret J. Quinnan was born on March 19, 1934 in Saginaw to the late Gerald and Loretta (Byerlein) Quinnan. She was a proud 1952 graduate of St. Mary Cathedral High School. She married the love of her life, John "Jack" Campbell on September 9, 1953; he survives her. Margaret was a devout catholic and a longtime member of St. Mary Cathedral. Throughout her life, Margaret volunteered her time and started the lunch program for St. Mary Cathedral until the school closed. She also organized the East Side Catholic Schools Lunch Program. She was also active in St. Mary's Senior's Club. Margaret enjoyed knitting, going to the casino, reading and playing Solitaire. She will forever be remembered for being a wonderful cook. Above all, Margaret loved and cherished her family. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Jack Campbell of Saginaw; one son, Patrick (Shelly) Campbell of Saginaw; two daughters: Marie Campbell of Bay City, Susan (James) Levy of Sparta, MI; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren with one on the way; two brothers: Gerald Quinnan, and William Quinnan; one sister, Frances McCarty; Also surviving are many brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Margaret was preceded in death by two sons: John A. Campbell and Phillip J. Campbell; and many brothers, sisters, and in-laws. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 615 Hoyt Ave. Rev. Fr. Thomas J. McNamara will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Margaret will lie in state at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption or a charity of the donor's choice.
