Sharar, Donald "Pat"
of Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 23, 2015 at his home. He was 86 years old. Donald Patrick Sharar was born on May 1, 1928 in Saginaw to the late Winfred and Mary (Doyle) Sharar. He was a 1946 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. He married his sweet heart and the love of his life, Shirley Neidhardt on September 18, 1948 in Saginaw at St. John's Lutheran Church; she survives him. Pat proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by General Motors for 43 years as a Pattern Repairman. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. Pat was also a member of the American Legion Post #439 and Saginaw Moose Lodge #82. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Pat also enjoyed wood working, specializing in carving ducks. Above all, he loved and cherished his family.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 66 years, Shirley Sharar of Saginaw; two daughters: Leslie Campbell of Saginaw, Patricia Pennington of Saginaw; three granddaughters: Amanda (Ian) Mays, Rebecca Campbell and Danielle Campbell and her fiancé, Tyler Wilson; one great-grandson, Liam Mays; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Oswald. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons-in-law: William Campbell and Rande Pennington; two brothers: John and Roger; two sisters: Betty and Doris.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor Jeff Bonn will officiate. Military Honors will take place following the service at the funeral home under the auspices of United States Army accompanied by the American GI Forum. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Our Saviour Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the funeral home, church or through www.deislerfuneralhome.com.
