Obituary of Margaret Eleanor Hartman

Hartman, Margaret Eleanor (Abshire), beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on hospice in Saginaw on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. She was born in Three Rivers, Michigan on August 7, 1925 to Charles and Pearl (Sherwood) Abshire. She was very active in school activities especially musicals and choral groups. She graduated, Salutatorian, and she enrolled in the Cadet Nursing Program at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan during WWII and graduated in August 1946 as an RN in Obstetrics. She married Raymond E. Hartman at St. John Lutheran Church, Three Rivers, Michigan on August 31, 1946. They celebrated 66 years of marriage together until Raymond's passing on September 19, 2012. They moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1950 and she worked at Saginaw General Hospital. Later, she worked on the Saginaw County Vision Testing Program for schools until 1975. Margaret then became an Avon saleslady where she earned a number of awards and retired in 2005 after 25 years. She enjoyed working with and for people. As a member of Faith Lutheran and Resurrection Lutheran Churches she was very active in both choirs and church activities. She was an avid card player, Girl Scout Leader, loved golf and enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states, and some foreign countries. Margaret was a wonderful mother and loved her family very much. She will be deeply missed by her daughters: Connie Rae (John) Greenamyer in Angola, Indiana, Patti Lynn Hartman in Saginaw and Judy Jo (Tod) Swann in Alexandria, Virginia; six grandchildren: Stacy (Dan) Smith, Lee (Jenny) Greenamyer, Kelly (Grant) Wogomon, all of Angola, IN, Amy Greenamyer of Chicago, IL, Taylor Swann and Travis Swann of Alexandria, VA; seven great grandchildren: Brandy, Clayton and Jordon Greenamyer, Austin, Brett and Andrea Smith and Grant Wogomon Jr.; sister-in-law: Barbara Bush; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pearl Abshire; husband, Raymond; three sisters and three brothers-in-law: Betty (J.D.) Hogden, Mary (Charles) Clelland, Phyllis (Thomas) Brignall; great grandson; A.J. Smith; and two special angels. FUNERAL: Honoring Margaret's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2110 Brockway. Rev. Kathleen A. Basner will officiate. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, February 8, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Resurrection Lutheran Church or the Michigan Parkinson's Foundation.
