Obituary of Harry H. Walter

Harry H. Walter of Saginaw, Michigan passed away at his home on Monday, January 19, 2015. He was 91 years old. Harry Walter was born on November 11, 1923 in St. Charles, Michigan to the late, Harry and Florence (Lytle) Walter. He was a 1942 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Harry proudly enlisted and served his country in the United States Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Marjorie Ruth Premo on July 10, 1945; she preceded him in death on November 30, 2000. He worked as a service repairman for Otis Elevator, retiring after over 35 years of service. He has been a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church since 1954 where he was a member of the funeral luncheon committee, Senior Saints, and the Braille Book. He was also a member of the Elks Club. Harry was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed taking many road trips. Above all, he loved and cherished his family. Surviving are two sons and a daughter: Tom (Nancy) Walter of Houghton Lake, Ned (Barb) Walter of Saginaw, and Lynnea (David) McCargar of Midland; three grandchildren: Holly McCargar, Bethany Walter and Cameron McCargar; one great granddaughter, Marjorie Lynnea McCargar; sister, Shirley Hollis of Mason; and two nieces and one nephew. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss Street. Rev. Michael Korte will officiate. Military Honors will take place under the auspices of the VFW Post #1859. Entombment will take place at Oakwood Mausoleum. VISITATION: Friend are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Harry will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran Church's Boar's Head Festival or East Side Soup Kitchen.
