Louis (Louie) C. Nevarez, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle was called home by the Lord on December 13. 2014. Louie was born on August 25, 1921 in Uvalde, Texas to Severo E. and Dorothy Canales Nevarez. He married Elvira (Vera) Yglesias on June 30, 1946 in Uvalde, Texas and they had 64 happy and loving years together until her passing on August 31, 2010. We rejoice and take comfort in believing that they are once again united in heaven. Louie proudly served his country and was a WWII veteran serving as a staff sergeant in the 81st Infantry Wildcat Division 322nd Company "G" in the U.S Army and was stationed in the Philippines and Japan. He graduated from Southwest Texas Junior College in 1948. Louie and Vera arrived in Michigan in 1949. He retired from the A&P Supermarkets in 1983 after 34 years in the food industry. Louie loved the Lord, was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and later a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church for over 40 years. He was also a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus. Louie will be missed by his loving children, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, brother, sister and many nieces and nephews and friends. Louie leaves behind his son, Louis Y.
