Obituary of Rita M. Schmidt

Rita M. Schmidt of Saginaw, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Toni and Trish House, age 77. Rita was born on June 28, 1937 in Saginaw to the late Francis V. and Ida (Demijohn) Schmidt, Sr. She was employed by the City of Saginaw, retiring in 2006. Rita had also been employed with Saginaw County Department of Social Services, U.S. Post Office, IRS, Michigan Bell, and Sacred Heart Grade School as a teacher, all in Saginaw. She also held positions with Model Cities in Baltimore, MD and the Social Security Administration in both Baltimore and Saginaw. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral.
Surviving are a son, Robert L. (Marcida) Conway of Saginaw and their children: Robert, Marcus, Jalen and Marshall Conway; daughter, Mary (Rich) MacKeen, of Millstadt, Illinois and their children: Josh, Nikki, Christopher, Heather and Kaitlyn MacKeen; son, Robert Michael (Karen) Moritz of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas and their children: Phillip, Matthew and David Moritz; two brothers: Francis "Vince" Schmidt, Jr. of Saginaw and Paul (Sue) Schmidt of Beaverton; two sisters: Delores (Bob) Kaulbach of Richardson, Texas and Philomena (Chris) Cowan of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; uncles: Joe (Gertie) Demijohn, of Farwell, Frank (Irene) Demijohn of Florida, and John (Kate) Demijohn of Shields. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald "Jerry" Schmidt; sisters: Karen "Joanne" Clarke and Julie Gutowski; and infant brother, Philip.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Toni and Trish House, Grace Hospice and Mrs. Hattie Tillman.
FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption Chapel located at 705 Hoyt Ave. Rev. Fr. Andy Booms will officiate. Honoring Rita wishes, cremation has taken place.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
