HARRINGTON, Melvin D. of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper surrounded by his family. He was 81 years old. Melvin D. Harrington was born on May 9, 1933 in Saginaw to the late Francis and Hedwig (Jungnitsch) Harrington. He married the love of his life, Frances "Frankie" Sagesh on August 2, 1952; she survives him. Mel retired from General Motors with over 38 years of service. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, "Frankie"; six children and their spouses; one daughter-in-law; 16 grandchildren: five great grandchildren; one brother and one sister. He was preceded in death by a son, Wesley Harrington. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Hidden Harvest or American Cancer Society.
