Obituary of Joan Marie Hillaker

HILLAKER, Joan Marie of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Durand Senior Care Center. She was 84 years old. Joan Marie Becmer was born on May 21, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late William and Isabelle (Mocny) Becmer. She married the love of her life, Verne Hillaker on May 2, 1952 in Linden; he preceded her in death on April 15, 1979. She was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School. Following graduation, Joan attended college and began her career as a registered nurse. She was employed with The Methodist Hospital in Texas for many years. Upon moving to Saginaw, she began working at St. Francis Home. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed reading. Surviving are two sons: Hugh (Merri-Jo) Hillaker of Grand Prairie, TX, Dan (Brenda) Hillaker of Byron, MI; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia (Jim) Fehrman; and a sister-in-law, Julie Becmer. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Becmer. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Honoring Joan's wishes, cremation will follow.
