Obituary of Maria Paula Lumbreras

LUMBRERAS, Maria Paula of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at St. Francis Home with her family by her side. She was 91 years old. Maria Paula Garza was born on January 15, 1923 in Mexico to the late Antonio and Maria De Luz (De Hoyos) Garza. She married Guadalupe Lumbreras; he preceded her in death in 1975. Maria Paula was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church as well as a member of their La Crucillista. Above all, she loved and cherished her family and enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Surviving are her beloved children: Jose, Maria (Jim) Steiner, Jesus Sr., Ricardo (Teresita), Dolores (Daniel) Schmidt, Arturo (Gabriela) all of Saginaw, and Theresa (Joe) Martinez of San Antonio, TX; 19 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Sunday Evening. Maria Paula will lie in state at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
