NEWVINE, Carlene of Saginaw Township, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the James E. Cartwright Care Center, following a long battle with liver cancer. She was 51 years old. Carlene E. Quintel was born on December 12, 1962 in Auburn, Michigan to the late Edgar and Doris (Abraham) Quintel. She was a 1981 graduate of Bridgeport High School. Carlene then attended SVSU, receiving her Bachelor's in Social Work in 1985. She married the love of her life, Thomas Newvine on August 25, 1984; he survives her. Carlene was a faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. At an early age, Carlene became an avid collector of Winnie the Pooh stuffed animals, as well as various other memorabilia over the years. Each one was loved unconditionally. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, traveling and making frequent trips to the casino. Above all, Carlene loved and cherished her husband, Tom. Surviving are her beloved husband of 30 years, Thomas Newvine of Saginaw Township; brother, Thomas (Anna) Quintel of Charleston, SC; sister, Sharon (Wayne) Mundt of Saginaw; father- and mother-in-law, Larry and Gail Newvine of Saginaw Township; three sisters-in-law: Tracy (John) Irwin of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Lisa (David) Fortin of Williamston, MI, Susan (Greg) Garno of Midland, MI; one brother-in-law, Danny Newvine of San Diego, CA. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother. FUNERAL: Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church (corner of Court and Bond). Pastor William Brassow will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, James E. Cartwright Care Center, or the American Cancer Society - Relay for Life.
