Julie worked with my Mom (Rosemary Allen) at St. Luke's admitting and patient registration. My mom was very fond of Julie as was I. I used to color pictures for Julie often when I was a child. My Mom passed away last August and I bet they are together again chatting about old times. Prayers to your family.

Meet our mother, Julia Armstrong! Julia has lived in Saginaw, Michigan all her
life, with the exception of a very brief period where her family moved to Alpena.
She has 2 sisters. Her younger sister, Rosalee Nowosatka, sadly passed away
several years ago. Her older sister, Suzy Surian lives nearby and visits her
regularly!
Julia's parents are the late Beryl and Hattie (Harriet) LeRoux. Beryl lived
independently of his wife and daughters, leaving Hattie to raise the girls. He
came in and out of their lives from time to time, while Hattie was a strong, core
parent who was dedicated to keeping the family together. Hattie worked at the
rectory, cleaning and ironing for the priests.
Graduating high school from St. Joseph's in Saginaw, Julie anticipated a
nursing career, but married Donald Armstrong and became the mother of 7
children: Tom, Carol, Donnie, Steve, Matt, Greg and Mike. She was a homemaker
raising children until the 1970's when she gained employment at the old
St. Luke's Hospital. Julia worked in the admitting department until she retired in
the mid 1980's.
Our mother is a very intelligent woman with a curious and persistent personality.
Her talents are numerous! Julie enjoyed cake decorating and candy making,
but ultimately refined her many skills becoming a miniature specialist creating
dolls, room vignettes and many unique pieces. She taught herself computer
skills and inevitably started a small, online miniature business filling custom
orders for various and beautiful miniature dolls and accessories.
It doesn't take long to realize Julie has a very strong personality! She speaks
her mind quite clearly even though a stroke has taken away her ability to
communicate the way she used to. Julie is her own best advocate, and she
won't hesitate to ensure she gets what she needs! Her mother, Hattie did an
excellent job in teaching her how to stand up for herself. If you've ever seen the
commercial where the little lady with her matching hat and purse throws the car
tire through the window of the tire company because she thought she got a "bad
deal"...you might just understand the spirit of our mother, Julia Armstrong!
