Obituary of Floyd James McIntyre

McINTYRE, Dr. Floyd James of Saginaw, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at St. Mary's of Michigan Hospital at the age of 85 years. Floyd was born on July 15, 1928 in Brant Township, Michigan, the son of the late Alex McIntyre and Gladys Mooney. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1946, and then Magna Cum Laude from the Illinois College of Chiropody in 1953. He married the love of his life, Pauline "Polly" Massarello on October 1, 1953 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He served the people of Saginaw as a foot doctor in office, hospital, and home settings from 1958 to his retirement in 2006, after serving his country and its citizens as a doctor in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Pauline; son, Roderick and Cynthia (Culham) McIntyre of Hastings, MN; daughter, Lori and Jon Rhynard of Alma; son, Brett and Jennifer (Janson) McIntyre of Greenville, DE; daughter, Kristi and Scott Armock of Summerville, SC; daughter, Amy and Roger Sumner of Maple Glen, PA; brother, Kenneth and his wife, Shirley McIntyre; brother, Roderick McIntyre; twin brother, Lloyd McIntyre; and special friend Bobby and his wife Carol George, all of Saginaw. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dr. Jeannette and Nathan (Allison) McIntyre; Dr. Megan, Michael, Kyle, Kegan, Quentin and Kelly Gibson; Chase and Lacey McIntyre; Lance Corporal Mathew (Geni), Christopher, Alex, Nicholas, and Victoria Armock; Curtis, Perie, and Stuart Sumner; step-grandchildren, Marissa (Jose) Bocanegra; Cody and Danielle Rhynard; step-great grandchildren: Hannah and Isabella Bocanegra; Kayleigh Erwin; and great-grandson, Shane Armock. He is also survived by numerous well-loved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Bernard and Suzanne McIntyre; brother, Roland and Doris McIntyre; sister, Agnes and Leon LaRocque; sister-in-law, LaVonne McIntyre; sister-in-law, June McIntyre; and granddaughter, Melinda McIntyre. Arrangements are entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Cremation will take place following a family only visitation later this week. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Humane Society of Saginaw County or a charity of the donor's choice. His memory will be cherished and he will be missed by many.
