I worked with Gary at CIESIN on the SVSU campus. He gave me a lot of good advice and mentored me in corporate ways. It was my first "real" job as a programmer. He was a great guy and will be missed.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. The death of a loved one is one of the most devastating experiences a human can face. At times, the loss can seem unbearable. The Bible promises; "God is near to the brokenhearted." It also says: "Throw your burden on God and he will sustain you." (Psalms 34;18 and 55:22) I hope this message will help you cope with the loss of your loved one.

My deepest condolences. I joined a very tight knit group last year. Gary made me feel immediately welcome and spent time helping me come up to speed. I appreciated his kindness, his wit, and his professionalism. I looked to him as a friend and mentor. He will be sorely missed.

We miss you, Uncle Gary. I remember the last time I saw you. We took you to see the sights in San Francisco and in Monterey all in the very same day. I remember your excitement and enthusiasm for seeing and doing new things. I also remember when we visited you in Saginaw when you bought your first home. You were so excited to show us your house. I remember seeing your music equipment and your HAM radio items. You showed us your yard and your plans for what you were going to do with it.
You welcomed me into the Roseberry family in 1992, and I always thought of you not as Ben's uncle, but as my uncle, too.
Love and miss you. You are an angel in heaven looking down upon all of those who loved you. We find comfort in knowing you are now reunited with your mom and dad.
Love to you, Uncle Gary.

I'll miss Gary - when working with him at XO he always seemed quite serious, but then he'd say something unexpectedly funny and you'd realize he wasn't quite as serious as you initially thought - especially when talking about databases.
He had a sharp mind and an even sharper wit.

In a word, stalwart. Gary had an uncompromising appreciation for logic and the uncanny ability to find and inject humor in dry, technical discussions. I'm a better person for having known and worked with him. He will be missed.

You will be missed my friend. I have known Gary since he was hired by Concentic. We have had many heartfelt conversations over the years. Gary was a great person who loved HAM radio, guns, music and his dog Toby. We also enjoyed conversations about cars, motorcycles and family. I will miss you Gary.

I worked with Gary at XO Communications. I sincerely admired Gary for his dedication to preserving our department's data integrity through properly engineered database structures. He would never allow anything to go into production half-baked.
He was full of wisdom, too. When I started, I was assigned the seat right behind him and was able to listen to everything he said. Something he didn't know until recently was that I had been keeping a private log of some of his best quotes. He loved the idea and wanted me to write a book. He was one of a kind. I doubt it will ever happen, but if I hear the same type of condescending brilliance pour out of someone else's mouth when discussing a report with a customer, I'll think of Gary and smile. I'll miss him.
