Dear Sandy,
I just learned from Pat about the passing of your husband Don. Just wanted you to know I was praying for you and that you have my sincere sympathy. I will not make it for any of the service because I am in Florida taking care of grandchildren. Take care of yourself and I am sure I will see you when I return.

My sister Jane and I fondly remember Mr. Kelso. As 6th and 8th grade transfer students from the smallest township school, Mahar, we entered Banner School, where Mr. Kelso was our principal, and he was among our first male educators. He was a kind man of high integrity, and his students admired and respected him. He took an interest in the students and had an open door policy that welcomed kids who wanted or needed attention from a caring adult. I can still see him standing in the hall outside his office across from the gym, smiling as he directed students to hurry up and get to class. He was a great role model for my career as an educator, and, as years passed and my husband became an elementary principal, I would think about Mr. Kelso from time to time. His classy, neat handwriting and "Donald J. Kelso" signature is etched in my memory. My sympathy is being sent to all who loved him. You are so blessed to have been part of his family. I'm sure he will look upon all of you from Heaven with great love.

I remember so clearly when I would spend the night at the Kelso house with Nancy. Mr Kelso was one of the kindest and caring Father I had ever met! I did not have my dad around so I would always love to go to the Kelso to see this loving family! He was always smiling! God shown through him greatly! Blessings to his family! Elaine McCoy
