Obituary of Helen Henry Woodward

Helen Henry Woodward passed away October 5, 2013 from Alzheimer's disease. She was born May 17, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Saginaw with her parents in 1935. She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1942 and earned an associate's degree from Monticello College in 1944. She was married to the late Don Woodward from 1946 to 1964 and they had six children together. Helen was the "Home Town Reporter" on WSAM Radio in Saginaw in the mid-1940s. She owned and operated the Children's Village Pre-school Center from 1967 to 1977 and she was a district sales manager for AFLAC insurance for 30 years until her retirement in 2004. Helen was a longtime member of the Unity Church of Bay City and was the director of the church's youth education program for several years. She was predeceased by daughters, Wendy Woodward Harrison and Beth Woodward Perates as well as a son, Randy Woodward. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Woodward (Gilles), of Los Angeles Calif., and sons, Tim Woodward (Sandra) of Barrington, R.I., and Mark Woodward (Kristen) of Seattle, Wash. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer Woodward of Saginaw, Nick de Bonfilhs of Los Angeles, Calif., Faith Woodward and Jack Woodward, both of Barrington, RI and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (Off State). Rev. Linda Pye will officiate. Per Helen's request, cremation has taken place. Private burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
