MORIN, John Henry of Saginaw, Michigan, formerly of Muskegon, age 90, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in Saginaw. He was born in Escanaba, MI on October 11, 1923 to John "Pete" and Esther (Rinard) Morin. Mr. Morin lived in Gladstone MI before moving to Muskegon MI after serving in the Navy as a gunner on Merchant Marine Ships during WWII. He served in every Theater of War, sailed around the world three times and was injured when blown out of his gun turret from a Kamikaze pilot. In Muskegon he met and married his wife, Irene on May 4, 1946 and they celebrated over 67 years together. He worked at Nap-Sol Refinery until it closed, as a pipe fitter, then in maintenance at Hackley Hospital. They moved to Pentwater MI in 1972 where he worked and retired from Memorial Medical Center as a maintenance supervisor. He and Irene moved to Saginaw MI 6 years ago due to their combined health issues. John loved his family and special furry friends, and enjoyed hunting, camping, tinkering in his garage, mowing grass and playing the Wii. John loved to share stories with his family and friends and they will miss hearing them. He is survived by his wife, Irene (Euler) Morin; son, Dale (Judy) Morin of Spring Lake; daughter, Linda (Steve) Drews of Freeland MI; grandchildren: Gina (Jeff) Griswold of Muskegon, Teresa Eddy of Muskegon, Danielle Morin of Muskegon, Nicole (Matt) Calkins of Muskegon, Sarah (Lee) Slater of Custer MI, Dustin (Becky) Drews of Clover SC, Brandon Drews of Saginaw MI; great grandchildren plus a baby girl on her way: Emma, Carter, Cade, Nevin, Lilly, Mason; brothers: Elwin (Patsy) Morin of Auburn WA, Robert Morin, Sr. of Muskegon; sister, Paula Jean Vanderstelt of Muskegon; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Morin of Ludington. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danial Morin; brother, Donald Morin; brother-in-law, William VanderStelt; sister-in-law, Beverly Morin. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Rev. Carlos Ramos officiating. Military Honors will follow under the Auspices of the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIAL: Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
