Obituary of Theresa C. Freeman

FREEMAN, Theresa "Cookie" C. of National City, Michigan formerly of Saginaw, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at St. Mary's of Michigan. She was 77 years old. Theresa C. Grasso was born on March 18, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Carmen J. and Marie (Meo) Grasso. She married James L. Freeman on May 5, 1956 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saginaw; he survives her. Cookie graduated from Holy Rosary Catholic High School. Later, she would become a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Tawas, as well as a member of the Woman's Auxiliary of Sand Lake. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling in her early years, cleaning, and going for rides on the pontoon with Jim. More than anything else, she loved her family and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and nieces and nephews. Cookie leaves to cherish her husband of 57 years, Jim L. Freeman of National City; son, Jim P. (Jennifer) Freeman of Saginaw; three grandchildren: Jim C. Freeman of Detroit, Jonathan M. Freeman of Lansing; and Gena Freeman of Florida; great-granddaughter, Emma L. Freeman; sister, Nancy Hussle; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmen and Marie Grasso; son, Michael J. Freeman; and two brothers: Patrick Grasso and Clement Grasso. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to St. Mary's of Michigan, NICU South for their very considerate care. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Josaphat Catholic Church, 469 Shattuck Rd. Rev. Fr. Kenneth E. Yaroch will officiate. Per Cookie's request, cremation has taken place. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at St. Josaphat Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
