Obituary of Robert Nutt

NUTT, Robert, of Saginaw, Michigan, age 63, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2013 after a short illness. Robert was a loving husband and father of three. Robert was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War whom was awarded the Purple Heart Medal of Honor. After the war, he worked for the United States Post Office, retiring in 2010. In his free time, Robert was a very competitive and accomplished athlete in Bowling and Softball. He loved following Tigers Baseball and the University of Michigan athletics. When Robert wasn't Ice Fishing at "The Palace" on Higgins Lake, Salmon fishing with Captain Mark on the Blue Rose, or Deer Hunting, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially his "little buddy" Parker. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Marie Nutt; three children: Joshua Nutt, Brian (Michelle) Dishaw and Jennifer (Jeramie) Morris; three grandchildren: Parker, Tyler and Emily; mother, Frieda Nutt; two sisters: Roberta (Rick) Swinson and Roxanne Neumeyer and Barry Hartfelder; a special uncle, Tom York and his wife, Kathy. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Merton Nutt and a sister, Diane. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Following the service, Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of VFW Post 1859. Honoring Robert's wishes cremation will follow. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Covenant Healthcare Foundation in Roberts's name. Donations will go directly to Covenant Harrison's ICU located on the 6th floor.
