Obituary of Beatrice M. Richards

RICHARDS, Beatrice "Bea" M. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Covenant Healthcare, Cooper with her family by her side. She was 93 years old. Beatrice M. Patterson was born on September 13, 1920 to the late John and Delia Patterson in Carrollton, Michigan. She married Warren Richards on December 24, 1942. He predeceased her on August 19, 1996. Bea was a member of St. John Vianney Church. She participated in various Shrine organizations and events including the Hillbilly Days and luncheons with Jesterette. Bea was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 439. She enjoyed playing bingo, euchre and poker as well as taking various trips to the casino. Above all, Bea truly treasured her family. Surviving are two daughters: Pamela (John) Ross of Saginaw, and Deborah Socia of Bay City; two granddaughters: Erin (Eric) Ross-Gustafson of Midland and Sarah (Matthew) Shields of Dewitt; two grandsons: Darryl and Jerry (Chrissy) Socia of Bay City; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Dan Socia; four brothers: Melvin, Raymond, Leonard, and Jack Patterson; and a sister, Mildred Patterson. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarthy Rd. Rev. Fr. James Carlson will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Oakwood Mausoleum. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the church on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Shriners Hospital for Children or Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association - Scholarship Fund.
