Obituary of Harold Wilber Shields

SHIELDS, Harold "Harry" W. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at his home. He was 70 years old. Harold Wilber Shields, Jr. was born on April 1, 1943 in Saginaw to the late Harold W. Sr. and Evelyn (Morgan) Shields. He married Jacqueline Muladore on September 3, 1982 in Saginaw; she preceded him in death on May 15, 2011. He attended SS. Peter and Paul High School where he played football under the infamous Smokey Boyd and was a VPL All Star Linebacker. He then graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1961. He also briefly attended Delta College studying Business Management before becoming a mechanic. He was then employed by Gary's Shell Service on the corner of Gratiot and Center, retiring in 1991. Harry was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. In his spare time, he loved fishing, hunting—especially bird hunting, and taking care of his yard. Harry was a true outdoors man. Surviving are three brothers and one sister: Bill (Mary) Shields of Niles, Mitchell (Marie) Shields of Saginaw, Karen (Jerry) Donohue of Sanford, and Richard (Marilyn) Shields of Port Charlotte, FL; a sister-in-law, Rose Shields of Prescott; a very special brother-in-law, Richard Muladore of Montrose; a sister-in-law, Barbara Bare of South Haven; and his beloved dog, Molly. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Shields; a sister, Patricia (Don) Hammis; and a brother-in-law, Al Bare. FUNERAL: Funeral Service and Rosary by the Knights of Columbus #4232 will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Rev. Fr. Steven M. Gavit will officiate. Honoring Harold's wishes, cremation has taken place. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit the funeral home on Friday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
