Obituary of Gerald R. Henderson

HENDERSON, Gerald "Jerry" R. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the Douglas T. Jacobson State Veterans Home in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was 93 years old. Gerald was born February 17, 1920 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Forrest and Neva (Hall) Henderson. He married Doris Danhoff; she preceded him in death in 2002. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. Later, he was employed as a butcher/meat cutter. He leaves two children: Thomas (Diane) Henderson of Venice, Florida and Sandra Henderson of Venice, Florida; three grandchildren: Robert (Mandy) Helveston, James Helveston, and Holly (Edward) Kurth; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Doris; five brothers; and two sisters. FUNERAL: Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). The Rev. Daniel Cannon will officiate. Private burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Garden. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Friday, September 27, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., as well as on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
