Obituary of Dennis C. Sheredy

SHEREDY, Dennis C. of Pinconning, Michigan passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison with his family at his side. He was 66 years old. Dennis C. Sheredy was born on August 14, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan to Jacob and Elizabeth (Grams) Sheredy; they survive him. He married his loving wife, Val, on May 21, 1988 in Montrose; she survives him. Dennis graduated from Bay City Central High School, class of 1964. Following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving as a Jet Mechanic Petty Officer 2nd Class on the U.S.S. Coral Sea. He worked for Nodular Metal Castings where he received his training and journeyman's card as a millwright. He then worked for Saginaw Steering Gear and Delphi Automotive, retiring in 2000 after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Dennis was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his family, as well as hunting, woodworking and his John Deere tractor. He truly cherished his dog, Molly and his cat, Taz. Surviving besides his loving wife, Val, are five children: William (Kelly) Sheredy of Strongsville, OH, Jennifer (David) Irvine of Rockford, Robert (Lisa) Sheredy of Bay City, Jennifer (Justin) Ball of Gladwin, and Jill (Matthew) Seefeld of Pinconning; nine grandchildren: Joy, Mayce, Alex and Sara Ball, Brandon, Austin and Madison Sheredy, and Brody and Jackson Irvine; two sisters: Patricia (David) Smith of Bay City, and Nancy Smith of Corvallis, OR; mother-in-law, Marion Hoffman of Saginaw; three brothers- and one sister-in-law: his fishing buddy, Larry (Deb) Hoffman of Rapid River, Linda (Grant) Chinery of Saginaw, Gary (Barb) Hoffman of Matthews, VA, David (Darcy) Hoffman of Gaylord. Also surviving are many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John VanderWoude, Jr.; an infant brother, Brian Paul Sheredy; father-in-law, Bud Hoffman; and a nephew, Brad Gatza.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) Rev. Kathryn S. Snedeker will officiate. Burial and Military Honors will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of VFW Post 1859. A Memorial Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, 1515 Cass Ave. Bay City. Rev. Fr. Edward Konieczka will officiate.
VISITATION: Friends and family are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
