Obituary of Robert Edward Mayer

MAYER, Robert Edward of Au Gres, formerly of Saginaw, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at his home. He was 80 years old. Robert Edward Mayer was born on March 3, 1933 to the late Edward and Iva (Davis) Mayer. He married Margaret Ann Corcoran on August 21, 1954 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Saginaw. She survives him. After graduating from Saginaw High School, Robert was employed by General Motors until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed coaching little league, fishing, and spending time with his grand children. Robert also enjoyed working on his children's houses. Left to treasure his memory besides his wife Margaret Ann are his four children: Kevin Mayer, Tim (Suzy) Mayer, David (Sheri) Mayer, and Julie (Mike) Fleischman; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Robert was predeceased by two sons, Bob and Stephen; a brother, Mike; and a sister, Kay. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. According to Robert's wishes cremation has already taken place. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the Saginaw South Little League.
