Obituary of Richard Christians

CHRISTIANS, Richard A. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Richard was born on October 21, 1929 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late John and Marcella Christians. He married Colleen Cassidy. Richard graduated from Arthur Hill High School. He then proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Richard was a Disabled American Veteran, a swimming official for Saginaw, and inducted into the Swimming Hall of Fame, as well as the Saginaw Athletic Hall of Fame. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed being outside gardening, building different things, and enjoyed the water. Richard leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Cathy (Ted) Friesen; three sons, Richard (Karen) Christians, Thomas (Penny) Christians, and John (Ann) Christians; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, William Christians; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen; sister, Alice Tatro; and brother, Roberts Christians. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: A graveside service with military honors will take place on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Cemetery. Rev. Paul R. Hinz will officiate.
