Obituary

Helen Jeanette Webber, known by her family and friends as Jeanette, the most beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, babushka, grandmother and friend passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Saginaw, Michigan.

She was born in Baring, Missouri on January 10, 1939, to Stanley Romaine and Helen Maxine Crawford Christman. They soon moved to Memphis, Missouri where they resided while her father, Stanley, was stationed in the US Navy during WWII, fighting in the Pacific Theater. After his return, her parents decided to move the family to Kirksville, Missouri, which would give their daughters more advantages, being a collegiate town. As a young family, they often traveled to Colorado for respite.

Jeanette graduated from Kirksville High School in 1956, and while in high school, she enjoyed being the Drum Majorette in the marching band, with her best friend Harriett. As the Majorette, she directed and led the band around the town square and performed at many halftime shows of local sporting events. In high school, she was also the class secretary and treasurer, a member of Masque and Gavel, Tri-K Club, Spanish Club, Orchestra, playing the French Horn, again with her best friend, Harriett.

Jeanette excelled in academics and graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman University) with a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish, in 1959. Here she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, Young Republicans, Panhellenic and Spanish Club. While in school, she also worked part time as a secretary and clerk for the administration office. Unexpectedly during her time at college, she and her best friend met their future husbands.

In 1957, she married Charles Knight Scott. After graduating from college, she and Chuck moved to Belton, Missouri. While living in Belton, she taught Spanish at the Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base. The family then moved to Overland Park, Kansas, where Charles was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. They welcomed their first child in 1961, Connie Scott. Chuck died four years later, in Kirksville, Missouri. As a single parent, Jeanette resumed teaching Spanish and English in LaPlata, Missouri, all while taking classes to obtain her master’s degree in Spanish and English at Northeast Missouri State College.

While studying in a coffee shop in 1968, she met her future husband Tim Webber, who was attending Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 1969, their daughter Julie Webber, was born and a year later, their son, Timmy Webber, was born, both in Kirksville, Missouri. After obtaining his medical degree in 1970, the family moved to Saginaw, Michigan. Their second son, Christopher, was welcomed in 1975. Tragically in 1978, their son, Timmy, drowned during swimming lessons.

Jeanette was a long time Saginaw Township resident for over 50 years. After teaching English and Spanish, she obtained her real estate license and was a realtor with CMW and Century 21 for thirty years; eventually becoming a million-dollar seller. Jeanette enjoyed meeting and helping families during their journey to find homes in Saginaw. Being a realtor gave her the flexibility she desired to balance her family and her work. She would always have a home cooked meal at 6p.m.! Later, she was the office manager for her dermatologist daughter, Dr. Constance Scott, D.O.

Jeanette had love for music and had a beautiful voice. She was often found playing her piano and singing. She was a member of the Germania Choral Society and Bay City Choral Society. Jeanette was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1970, where she loved to sing church hymns.

Jeanette was very sociable and had many friends over the years. She was a member of several clubs including the Panhellenic Sorority, Culture Club, Saginaw Women Book Club, Torch Club, Osteopathic Wives Organization, Bridge Club, First Wife’s Club, and Tennis Club, just to name a few. She also enjoyed volleyball, cross-country skiing, and was an avid gardener with a special affinity for tomatoes and cilantro.

Jeanette traveled around the world extensively. A few of her favorite experiences and places were ziplining the rainforest canopy in Costa Rica, walking the great wall of China. Later she went to Ireland and Scotland with three generations of her family, where she felt most at home. Several trips were made to Europe, England, and France. In Spain and Portugal, she spoke of translating for her whole family. During the 1980’s, she and Tim traveled with another couple to Honduras, during a very dangerous political time. Additionally, she experienced countless travels to Mexico, Grand Cayman Islands, St. Lucia, Hawaii, an Alaskan cruise and several Caribbean Cruises.  She traveled with her daughter to Russia, where she assisted in the adoption of three of her six grandchildren.

She truly treasured her time on the lakes in Missouri and Michigan, which was often cherished family time. Most weekends, Jeanette enjoyed going up north and reading a book with her two beloved puppies, Rusty and Little Joe, by her side.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Constance Webber Scott, D.O. and Juliana (Matthew) Webber Reineke, Esq.; her son, Christopher Stanley Christman Webber, Esq. She also leaves behind her sister, Sandi Christman; her cherished grandchildren, Demetrios Scott, Annaleigh Scott, Illiya Scott, Leland Reineke, Reid Reineke, Evana Reineke; great grandchild Leland Reineke, III. Also her canine companions, Rusty and Little Joe.

She now joins her husbands, Charles Knight Scott and Dr. Timothy Webber, and their son, Timothy "Timmy", her parents Stanley and Maxine Christman, and her sister Linda lee Christman Barnett, who all preceded her in death.

Jeannette and I were roomies at CMW! She was such a fun person to be with. She is actually the person who got me to like coffee! She introduced me to coffee nips candy and said "this is what coffee taste like" I was hooked!! She always made sure there were coffee nips on my desk! o

Many fond memories of growing up with the Webber family! Especially when they included me in a family trip to Florida. Jeanette was almost like a 2nd Mom.

I had the good fortune of being friends with Chris which because of Jeanette's outstanding hospitality made me almost part of the family. I was invited over for family dinners, up north stays and family vacations, and I never felt out of place. Jeanette was a quick wit, an easy laugh and always exceptionally kind to me. One of my regrets from moving away is all of the time I lost with the Webber clan. Jeanette will be sorely missed and to Chris, Connie and Julie my most heart felt condolences.

I met Jeanette when I became friends with the Scott family. She was always very kind friendly and was soft spoken. Her grandchildren played an important part in her life. She was so proud of them and told me about when they were young and came from Russia. When you know the Scott family, you know how kind they are and I feel Jeanette had a great impact on their life. They also had a great impact on her life. Those who got to know Jeanette were blessed. She will be greatly missed by all.
