Obituary of Barbara Jean Woods

Barbara “Barb” Jean Woods, age 87, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Saginaw. The daughter of Omer and Marcella (LeFevre) Smith, Barb was born September 23, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan.

Barb worked as a bookkeeper in the automotive industry and enjoyed being a part of the GM Girls Club. She was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Barb enjoyed sewing, reading, loved playing cards, bingo, and trips to the casino.

Barb is survived by her children, Thomas (Lucy) Woods and David Woods; grandchildren, John (Kim) Brennan, Katie (Mike) Sampson, Corey (Madison) Woods, Connor (Baylie Winters) Woods, Erica (Lucas) Elsie, and Aaron (Laura Rainie) Breidenbach; great grandchildren, Brighton, Collin, Sophia, Tommy, Henry, Enzo, and Izabella; siblings, Nancy (Terry) Schultz, Oma (Rick) Ozark, Mark (Lynn) Smith, Tammy (Rick) Moore; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to Barb’s sisters, Nancy and Oma, her niece, Tara Schultz, and her partner, Karin Van Zeist, for all the loving care they always gave her.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Woods; her daughter, Kim (John) Brennan, her parents and her sister Jane Oswald (Chuck).

Barb’s family also wishes to express appreciation to her healthcare team at Covenant, including Dr. Lisa Spielhaupter, Dr. Gregory, and nurses Anna, Shelby, and Tony.  A special thanks to the staff at Edgewood Assisted Living.

Visitation will take place Friday, January 16, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 5:00 p.m. at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48603. Deacon Jason Rasmussen will officiate. Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw.
