Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Brittany Manor, Midland. She was 85 years old. Joanna Melchor was born on July 14, 1940 in Saginaw to Manuel and Delores (Andrade) Melchor. She was happily married to Ross J. Jones on May 25, 1983 for 20 years, before his passing on September 1, 2003. She loved to bowl, play bingo, take trips to the casino and spend time with her loving family. Joanna was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi – St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Joanna is survived by her children: Suzette (Frank) Soria; siblings: Mary Helen (Fernando) Cisneros, Samuel (Maria) Melchor, Arthur Melchor and Beatrice Cruz; sister-in-law, Sandra Melchor; grandchildren: Meagan, Heather (Claude), Francisco, Kara (William), Tynisha, Jessie (Ali); 12 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Joanna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ross J. Jones; sister, Grace Melchor; brothers: Anthony, Raphael and Manuel (Eve) Jr.; daughter, Connie Vargas.

Joanna’s daughter would like to thank the staff of the The CareTeam Hospice for all the love and care shown to Joanna.

Family and friends will gather at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603 on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris OFMCap will officiate.
