Marin, Phillip James “PJ”

Also affectionately known as Hunny, Phil, Big Cat, Pyay, JJ, Peej, Felipe, P.Jer and JP

Lansing, Michigan formerly of Saginaw

Our beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and dear friend was greeted in heaven by his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 13, 2025. He was 41 years old. Phillip James Marin was born on June 30, 1984 in Saginaw to Margaret (Murillo) Marin and James L. Haremski. PJ graduated from Heritage High School in 2002. He studied at Delta College and then Michigan State University graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. PJ was a polymath. Fluent in Spanish. A math wiz. Guitar virtuoso. Golf and movie aficionado. Ice cream lover. He had a monstrous love for his family, his best friends and all of the people he encountered throughout his life. PJ loved living in the Lansing area and was always doing something, he could never sit still. He was one of the hardest workers, and a quick study to learn something new. He made the career transition from a UPS driver to realtor while still tending bar at Peoples Kitchen in Lansing. PJ was also an instructor for TAM. His hardworking, fun loving, active, witty, a human anti-depressant, gave the best hugs, bright light and spontaneous spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

PJ is survived by his mommy: Margarita “Margaret” Marin; his dad, James “Jim” (beloved step-mom, Debbie) Haremski; siblings, David Decker and Jennifer (Michael) Ozerajtys; granny, Maria Faith; aunts and uncles, Diana “Tia Dina” Barajas, Carmen “Tia Short” Murillo, Uncle Denny Murillo, Tia Sherol (Jim) Scholl, Christine Emeott and Janet (Ronald) Bidwell; special cousins, Maurice and Dario Murillo and his best friends: Nathan Medina, Angelo Ortega, Rafay Baig and Adam Sajdak; cousins: Rachel (Brian) Price, Justin Emeott; so many additional cousins, extended family and dear friends.

PJ was preceded in death by his grandparents: Leo and Patricia Haremski and Raymond and Dorothy Burba; grandfather, Lonnie Faith; aunt and uncles Jesse Barajas, Gail and Jim Husen and Jerry Emeott.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. A service to celebrate PJ will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Dr. Julian Gonzales will officiate.
