Janet and Dick were great friends to my parents June and Grey Gitzen. They were members of the Hosta Society together and shared the gardens at the Children's Zoo. She was a wonderful and caring lady. She will be missed.

Janet is a friend I found as an older adult. We spent many hours together talking of happy things, sad things, hard things, our families, and our joys.
I will miss her tremendously, and I remember her each time I hug someone really tight, or when I make Lemon Cooler cookies, and each time I touch a Lisianthus or see hostas. Janet knew so well how to be a friend. My heart is full.

Dear family, I was a nurse at Dr.Johnson’s office and St. Mary’s graduate. Jan was very dear to me and so kind to open her yard and hosta gardens to me. She was an excellent nurse and person.

Janet was my babysitter, living behind our home. She & I reconnected as professionals, often sharing rides to & from Midland Hospital. She was a great, compassionate listener and we shared both the joys and sorrows of life. She was a wonderful mentor & educated me about neuro conditions so that we could better care for patients. I admired her calm, loving approach to nursing & she had high respect for my contributions as a social worker. One of my favorite memories is of our love for children’s books. We traded favorite authors and illustrators.
Janet’s love of her family was remarkable. She was full of pride for each of their accomplishments. The death of Dick earlier this year and then her son were devastating. I’m glad she is reunited with them now.
It was a true blessing to have Janet’s friendship for so many years. I will miss her profoundly. My condolences & love are extended to her family.
