Obituary of Michael J. LaCross

Our loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. He was 71 years old. Michael James LaCross was born on September 12, 1953 in Saginaw to Robert Thomas Sr. and Catherine Naomi (DeCaire) LaCross. Michael graduated from Carrollton High School in 1972. He married Sally Ann Kirby in 1986 in Saginaw. Sally preceded him in death on January 3, 2022.

Mike worked for Michigan Sugar Company for over 20 years. He loved to fish, ride his bike, spend time in his yard and garden and enjoy the company of his many dogs throughout the years. Mike has an amazing sense of humor, loved his family, especially his eight grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughter, Tanya (Jon) Lovell; grandchildren: Elissa, Alayna, Olivia, Nathan, Kyle, Bryce, Lily and Evelyn; siblings: Betty Shelswell, Marge Blackmer, Howard LaCross and Vickie (Jim) Okoniewski; siblings-in-law: Susan (Philip) Gutka, Patricia (Joseph) Dupuis, Mike (Kelly) Kirby, Joseph (Jacqueline) Kirby; his childhood best friend, Stewart Davis; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; many extended and dear friends; and his furry companion, Sully.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally LaCross; brother, Robert LaCross Jr.; sister, Elsie Mead; his sister-in-law, Mary Kirby.

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Deacon Gary Patelski will officiate.  

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Heart Association or Amazing Grace Animal Rescue.
