Obituary of Kathleen Ann (Moon) Bengry

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved wife, mother, grandma, aunt, and dear friend passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Covenant HealthCare – Harrison, surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old. Kathleen (Kathy) Ann Moon was born on May 25, 1941, in Saginaw to Lawrence E. and Helen (Jasinski) Moon.  After graduating from St. Mary’s High School, she worked as a Receptionist/Medical Assistant from 1961-1966.  Kathy married Emmett A. Bengry in Saginaw on January 21, 1967.  Together, they had three children: Bryce, Stephen, and Jennifer.  She was involved with her children’s school activities including Scouting, Brownies, and dance.  Kathy helped start the Zilwaukee Lioness program, serving as their first president.  She also enjoyed researching family genealogy.  After raising her children, she returned to the medical field, eventually retiring from Covenant (Saginaw General) where she worked in admitting/patient registration.  Kathy, a lifelong catholic, had a strong love for her Lord and worshipped at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Zilwaukee.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Emmett; children: Bryce (Lisa) Bengry, Stephen (Carrie) Bengry, and Jennifer (Khord) Brieske; four grandchildren: Carly, McKenzie, Haley, and Jacob; sisters-in-law, Kathy Moon and Janet Herman; and many extended family and dear friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dale Moon; brother-in-law, Donald Herman; and nephew, Scott Moon.

In keeping with Kathy’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and her remains will be placed at Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Kathy’s family wants to thank the Covenant ER staff of doctors, and nurses Chad and Brianna for their dedicated and comforting service.  We would like to thank the hospice staff of Tate, Ellie, Seleena, Payton, and Madison for their excellent, compassionate care of Kathy.  We also wish to thank the dedicated staff at Health Source Saginaw for the treatment and care they provided her with these past 7 months.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. Saginaw, MI 48603. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family through www.DeislerFuneralHome.com
