You never went her house without one of her parents insisting on you having a milk shake or ice cream. Mooney's if course. Kelly being the big sister with the cool boyfriend may be there to spy on. Whitney had invited me to her Clear Lake cottage back in our middle school days. She had succinct orders to SIT in the boat seat not on the top of the back. Once we cleared what she considered the safe zone she was on top of the seat back and away we went which I also copied her lead when it was my turn. Hope she is spinning around the lake in heaven riding on top, wind in her hair.

I met the Michigan girls while on spring break in 1977 Daytona Beach, Florida. What a fun group and fate, to have met. A few of us have stayed friends ever since. I remember the time Whit came to Kentucky on business. I was her tour guide and she thought people in the south were crazy. We have stayed in contact over the years. Even though we are a 1000 miles away, I thought of her often. She will be missed and her family will be in my prayers.

Whitney radiated her lovely spirit from within, through her soft, genuine smile. We went from Hemmeter, to Chippewa to Douglas as classmates. I didnt realize she also went to MSU. She was one of the 'cool kids' who was sweet and approachable. In grade school if you were lucky enough to be in her class, you were treated to an end of the year picnic in her back yard, with ice cream, of course. I will remember Whitney as funny and kind. So sad to hear the news about Whitney...she was one of my first friends in elementary school. Always so sweet and fun..went all through school together. Although we lost contact in our adult years, I will always consider her a good friend. My heart aches for her family...she was just too young. I will remember her, always.
