MARX, Keith A.

Saginaw, Michigan

Our beloved husband, dad, Papa, brother, uncle, dear friend and honorable veteran passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was 74 years old. Keith Arn Marx was born on November 23, 1950 in Saginaw to Shirley A. and Louise (Plot) Marx. He graduated from Arthur Hill Tech in 1969. Keith was drafted to serve his country with the United States Army, 25th Infantry during the Vietnam War. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran, however he disliked how returning Veterans were treated and the effects of Agent Orange on him and his fellow veterans. After his return, he worked for Grey Iron Foundry for over 40 years, retiring in 2009. Keith met Cheryl L. Burgess through friends, as their friendship grew, they made plans and were married on September 29, 1973. Together they celebrated 51 years of marriage together.  He loved his family and doing all things with them, including camping, building a big bon fire, gardening, fishing, golfing and especially being a Hockey Dad then Hockey Papa. He went to all games, events, music recitals and plays that he could. He was the one to go to when traveling and you wanted to know where to eat or get good food. He enjoyed trying to find good places to eat in Michigan and throughout the States and several times in Europe especially Munich and Poland.

In addition to his family, he had a special love for his dogs, Shotzie, Daisy and Skip; and his grand dogs – all of them, Gizmo, Pedro and even the cats.

He was very lucky over the years to attend Detroit Sports – Tigers, Lions and Redwings. He was a fan of MSU Football and Hockey games, including the Frozen Four in Chicago.

Keith is survived by his wife, Cheryl; children: Daniel A. (Louisa) Marx, Jeffrey A. (Jennifer) Marx and Christina (Donald) Smith; loving Papa to Adalyn G. Smith (his birthday buddy) and Celine E. Marx; sister, Roselee (Carl) Baldys; sister-in-law, Betty Marx; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Timothy (Eden) Burgess and Jackie (David) Prange. He was “Uncle Keith” to several nieces and nephews especially: Connie, Jim, Carl Jr. and Meghan; God children: Jason and Britni; best friend, John Honeman; many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and dear friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Shirley E. (Joan) Marx, Chester Marx; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shirley and Jack Burgess; sisters-in-law, Melanie Burgess and Robin Ann Burgess
