We’ll always remember Nana’s mole, rice, and the grandkids competing on who would have the most bowls of her famous pozole at every New Years Eve! She always had fresh salsa ready on hand for any meal and always encourage us to “eat mijos” even if we just got off the table. Her deep freezer was seemingly bottomless full of tamales, tortillas, fudgecicles and all kinds of food “just in case”. She kept all her kids, grandkids, and eventually great-grandkids fed along with anyone who crossed the threshold of her home.

Q: What will you never forget about Esther?
A: My nana was the best nana ever! I am so proud that my child got to visit and be around her great nana as much as we could. I am so glad we were able to spend our last Christmas together. I am very grateful to have spent those few days with you as well, knowing you heard,saw me, and said my name. I will never forgot when Rosalia asked you to “Brinka, Brinka Nana!” It brought you a little laughter! I know you loved my child as much as you loved each of the other grandchildren. You even made the last blanket just for Rosalia too! That blanket will always be cherished. I will always miss you but know you are with me having our chats, coffee with baileys, and taking our tequila shots in the am. There is much more memorable memories that I will always cherish from my loving and adoring nana. I will always love you nana!
